Washington, D.C., December 16, 2020 – Evolent Care Partners, a network of independent primary care providers focused on total cost of care management, announced its partnership with Tar River Health Alliance, a physician-led organization that administers health care services to beneficiaries in North Carolina. Beginning in January 2021, Tar River Health Alliance will participate with The Accountable Care Organization, Ltd. (TACO) in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Enhanced Track.
Founded in 2016, Tar River Health Alliance is an ACO comprised of two medical groups, Boice-Willis Clinic, PA and Rocky Mount Family Medical Center, who manage approximately 9,000 Medicare beneficiaries in the greater Rocky Mount region. As part of Evolent Care Partners’ Enhanced Track MSSP ACO, these two groups join a growing national network of independent primary care providers who are working together to more effectively provide health care services to Medicare beneficiaries, improve outcomes and lower overall costs.
“We are delighted to partner with Tar River Health Alliance and empower a greater number of independent primary care physicians in North Carolina to succeed within the MSSP,” said Evolent Care Partners CEO Asit Gosar. “Our growing network is committed to delivering better care for Medicare beneficiaries, and by working together with Tar River Health Alliance, we look forward to continuing to improve patient health by delivering high-quality, personalized care.”
“Our partnership with Evolent Care Partners means that our physicians will have greater access to shared knowledge and best practices. We are confident Evolent Care Partners will support us in continuing to provide high-quality and coordinated care to our patients,” said Dr. Martha Chesnutt with Boice-Willis Clinic.
Evolent Care Partners’ MSSP ACO supports physicians by providing the resources needed to participate and succeed within two-sided contracts, while insulating them from downside risk. Through a unique partnership model, physicians achieve success by focusing on primary and preventive care services, referring to high-value specialists, and keeping Medicare beneficiaries healthy.
Through this partnership, 81 providers across both medical groups will participate in the Enhanced Track MSSP ACO. This partnership expands TACO’s presence in North Carolina. Based on available data, TACO is the largest network in NC comprised solely of independent primary care providers participating in the MSSP—accountable for approximately 25,000 Medicare beneficiaries.
