Position summary
Under the supervision of the Sr. Director/Director of Health Plan Services (HPS) Training & Development, the Instructional Specialist will develop and assist in the development of training materials, exercises and structured activities designed to develop exceptional operational team members. The Instructional Specialist will facilitate in person and virtual classes as well as be responsible for the evaluation of training effectiveness, identification of knowledge gaps, recommendation of training solutions to address identified training opportunities, collaboration with leadership to determine desired results and creation of action plans to produce them. The Instructional Specialist is also accountable to support departmental and organizational initiatives.

 

Essential functions

This position’s main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Facilitate instructor-led classroom and virtual training using a variety of training methods, tools, and software programs
  • Develop and maintain training materials, workflow documents, Standard Operating/Desktop Procedures, and job aids
  • Periodical review of operational departmental policies and procedures (P&P)
  • Assist operational team to update P&P documents
  • Communicate P&P updates and changes department wide
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to review evidence of adherence to procedural controls and ensure individuals responsible for non-adherence are re-trained when necessary
  • Ensure Department Policies and Procedures and Desktop Procedures are cross referenced to one another where applicable
  • Partner with department leads to identify required training by role and experience level
  • Communicate process changes that have broad impact across the training team
  • Train new and existing employees in their role functions
  • Create instructor-led training agendas
  • Provide feedback on training program content and supporting documentation
  • Utilize assessments and evaluation tools to gauge trainee knowledge and skill gaps
  • Provide weekly customized coaching and feedback sessions for each trainee
  • Report progress of training classes and trainees to the operational leadership team
  • Analyze reports to track trending performance and to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Evaluate training effectiveness by auditing trainee work-product
  • Provide feedback and solutions to achieve predetermined benchmarks and goals
  • Maintain administrative documentation including but not limited to training agendas, attendance sheets and assessment scores to demonstrate trainee compliance with department requirements
  • Work with the operational leadership team to identify error trends, monitor productivity, and support the quality standards program for all trainees and staff
  • Work with the Market team to facilitate end-user client training

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)


Skills

Minimum 3 years’ experience in healthcare industry

Minimum 1 year leading presentation for both small and large groups

Minimum 1 year training developed content

Strong written and verbal communication

Proficiency with Microsoft Office
