Position summary

The Broker and Commission Specialist is responsible for maintaining agency and broker demographic information and assisting in the commission payment and reconciliation process.  This includes working closely with other departments and clients to resolve discrepancies through the ticketing process.  The Broker and Commission Specialist will assist in preparation of monthly commission runs including all documentation, reconciliations and reporting.


 Essential functions


  • Maintain Agency and Broker Tables
  • Prepare and reconciles adjusting transactions to facilitate payments and adjustments that are not calculated automatically
  • Audit broker assignments against source documents and update tables when necessary
  • Ensure banking information is correctly added to agent tables
  • Review commission payment reports and make necessary adjustments
  • Respond to Broker, Client, and Member Services inquiries via ticketing process
  • Troubleshoot broker assignment issues and propose or implement solutions
  • Prepare reports of turn-around time and errors for use by internal and external parties
  • Review exception reports on daily basis determining appropriate next steps
  • Prepare general ledger entries based on transactions processed
  • Reconcile retroactive commission payments against retroactive premium receipts
  • Work with vendor to ensure timely and accurate payments
