Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary

What You’ll Be Doing:

Our Chief Actuary will be responsible for leading a powerhouse team of 100+ actuarial and analytic resources. This key leader will be the definitive voice within Evolent in understanding and managing risk.  The Chief Actuary is also tasked with setting the overall vision and strategy for the team, along with managing the team, and their toolbelt, that delivers insights and value to our client base that includes provider sponsored health plans and ACOs in all lines of business.  Evolent is a growing organization and the Chief Actuary will be charged with growing and scaling the team and their offerings to meet the business needs. In addition the Chief Actuary role will include:

  • Working with internal markets and business leads
  • Managing the budget
  • Managing vendor relationships
  • Presenting to clients and internal executives
  • Understanding and packaging all the services the team delivers to Evolent clients
    • Includes all standard health plan actuarial functions
    • Medical economics
    • Risk score suspecting and analytics
    • Data science
    • Industry leading analytics and reporting

The Experience You Need (Required):

  • FSA designation
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Experience leading and setting strategic direction for an actuarial team
  • Proven leadership and ability to engage, inspire, and manage a team
  • Experience with client relationship development and/or business development
  • 12+ years of experience in a health actuarial setting
  • Exceptional facilitative skills with a vision and understanding of the future and subsequent changes required to meet business needs
  • Experience with various risk adjustment models

Finishing Touches (Preferred):

  • Experience with provider directed health plans
  • Deep health care analytics experience
  • Knowledge of Medicare Advantage, commercial, and Medicaid lines of business
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to lead and work across different organizations
  • Experience working in a matrixed work environment
